At Villandry castle in Tours, France on October 29th, Yoshiharu Habu and Toshiyuki Moriuchi, the Shogi champions in Japan, and challenged Maxime Vachier Lagrave, who is known globally as the chess champion of France, in a game of chess.
Mr. Habu and Mr. Moriuchi were in Rueil-Malmaison near Paris for the 5th International Shogi Forum.
Mr. Lagrave used two chessboards and played against two at the same time. Although Moriuchi was beaten, Habu was carried into the draw, and surprised the local chess fan who gathered.
